VICTORIA CROSSES of LANARKSHIRE

I discovered through my research that my home county of Lanarkshire had fourteen Victoria Crosses, a fact that no organisation, newspaper or authority under the sun was aware of. I then painted each man's story of how he won the highest honour and then organised an exhibition to show to the world their stories.
A press campaign then begun to help raise public monies which culminated in the unveiling of the superb monument which now stands in Hamilton 's New Town Square displaying each man's name and regiment and where he won his honour.

I have since written the book on each man's individual fantastic story.

I was also very proud to know Bill Reid V.C. before he died. He was a great source of information and encouragement towards the raising of the monument

All sales from prints from this section of the Victoria Crosses of Lanarkshire goes to Erskine Hospital in Glasgow , to the old soldiers there who ‘bought' us the time and gave us the freedom to do what we will in this life of ours so dearly bought.
